33 cats have been poisoned by anti freeze in Somerset, in Stogursey and nearby Bridgwater. What kind of pathetic person would maliciously kill peoples beloved pets? I understand that lots of people dislike cats and their roaming can cause trouble for some. In particular they can be condemned for their hunting but they are animals, hunting is their nature and they are innocent animals. It is also true that humans are cruel in their nature but with rational thinking and intelligence they have means to control their behaviour. I hope that authorities can get to the bottom of the mystery soon, I know that If I lived there I'd keep pets safe indoors intill there is a resolution!
Here are the details from the Daily Mail on the story in Somerset. It seems antifreeze is the weapon of choice for cat killers with some similar reports all over the country, Wales and the West Midlands have also had series of kitty murders. Is this intentional killing or just irresponsible storage of the product? One owner Emma Guy is campaigning for bitteran to be added to antifreeze so that animals are repelled from it.

Cat adoption

According to the cat's owner, Ruben Dario Gaviria of Envigado, Columbia, Tito adopted Firulais, a baby squirrel, in December 2009, when Gaviria brought it home after finding it alone and injured on a tree branch. Tito suckles her own baby cat and the squirrel, caring for them both. So cute ^_^

Bagheera

On May Day we adopted Baggy. He is very friendly and sometimes vocal, he loves fuss and is a big tart! He is black and has a slim face (maybe some Siamese in him) and is quite big but not fat, just long and slender. We have called him Bagheera, which is Indian for panther as used in The Jungle Book. He does looks like a little panther and in the Disney movie Balo the bear calls him baggy for short so it fits in more ways than one ; )



Baggy came from the RSPCA center down the road. We went there 6 weeks before and were quite taken with Baggy but he came with a 2nd girl cat. We couldn’t commit to 2 cats at once so we left. On the 2nd of may we went back and they were still there! They didn’t come from the same home and the staff had decided that very day to separate them. Of course we wanted to take Baggy home straight away!



We have been slowly introducing Mr Toffee and Baggy, the first meeting went well. I don’t anticipate any problems as Mr T came from a house with 3 curious cats and wasn’t bothered by them. He has settled in well, he seems very happy and comfortable, we are very glad to have the new addition : )
